Up Next: Offroading in Oman

Having neglected our little blog in recent months due to school and work commitments, we have decided to re-launch with our first trip in 2011.

Per tomorrow until February 5, we will be getting to know the Sultanate of Oman, a country that didn’t pop up on our travel-radar until recently. Originally, we were planning a trip to Egypt – Israel – Jordania, but when we realized a) that two weeks would mean cutting our tour there short, b) a colleague of Phil’s recommended Oman (where he had lived), AND c) we found out that a lovely couple we had met in China is living in Muscat (the capital), it was an easy decision to make. Fast Food Healthy: Wagamama (ZH)

A recently opened fast food joint in ZH we finally got around to trying: Japanese-inspired menu, although the dishes are very much European-ised. The interior of the place (which is very centrally located) is modern and welcoming, a bit of cantine chic to go along with the modern Asian feel (it reminded us of mall-food places in Shanghai).

Weekend in the Ticino

Nun hat unsere erste grosse Reise schon ihr Ende gefunden: Nach sechs Wochen USA (drei Wochen davon zusammen mit Phil’s Schwester), fast zwei Monaten China, einem herrlichen Monat Burma, ein paar Wochen Thailand auf der Insel Koh Chang, vier Wochen Laos (mit Freunden David und Martin), kurzen zwei Wochen Cambodia, nochmals zwei Wochen Thailand, drei Wochen Rajasthan (mit meiner Mutter) und drei Monaten Nepal sind wir nun wieder in der guten Schweiz angekommen. Viel hat sich hier nicht verändert, fast scheint es, als seien wir nie weg gewesen… das ist auch unseren vielen Freunden und Familienmitgliedern zu verdanken, welche uns wärmstens willkommen geheissen haben und an der Reintegration massgeblich beteiligt waren.
